This is the very characteristics of a person, standing in the new time at the source of the Uzbek national statehood and it's as follows:Yuldash Akhunbabaev was the First Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Uzbek Socialist Republic and the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Uzbek SSR. In the house were the museum is located Yuldush Akhunbabaev has lived since 1930 till 1943, that is more than 10 last years of his life. Though the museum was founded in almost 50 years after his death, all possible efforts were made to preserve and display the items which this outstanding person had been surrounded by. Ten halls of the museum contain the memorial complex - a living-room, a dining-room and a bedroom, where Yuldash Akhunbabaev lived together with his family, a fragment of his study with furniture, which was donated to the museum as well as a historic exposition describing the main landmarks of his life and work. |

Akhunbabaev was born in 1885 in the kishlak of Djoy-Bazar in Yazyavan volost of Margilan district. Since 1901 after his father died Yuldash has been morking at Margilan cotton-cleaning plant, worked as a labourer in the village of Uzgen in Osh District. In 1916 he took an active part in the rebellion. After the rebellion was suppressed he was caught and put into prison. In 1920 he became the Chairman of the Margilan Council of the poor and since December of the same year he was the deputy Chairman of the Union "Koshchi" of the Margilan District - city committee. Those were the years when Akhunbabaev took an active part in the organization in Ferghana Valley the first associations of the joint cultivation and agricultural artels. He was one of the initiators of the carrying out of the land - water reform, improvement of the system of irrigation, the equipment of the farms with the modern machinery and the regulation of the methods of cotton-growing. In 1925 at the first Congress of Soviets of the Republic Yuldush Akhunbabaev was elected Chairman of CEC of the Soviets of the Uz SSR and held that post till 1938 when he was elected Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Uzbek SSR and Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. He held those posts until the end of his lifetime. Important was Akhunbabaev's role as one of organizers of the construction of the Great Ferghana Canal completed in a record time with the method of people's construction - "khashar". At the beginning of World War II he directed distribution of the evacuated plants and scientific establishments, development of the enterprises of the defence industry. Yuldush Akhunbabaev died on February 28, 1943. |

The memorial museum was created in his honour according to the government decision and received the first visitors on September 1, 1992. Khairi Akhunbabaeva, Yuldush Akhunbabaev's daughter has been working for a long time as a curator of the museum. Now the general-keeping and the executive curator of the museum ia Raikhon Siradjitdinovna Nuritdinova. |
